Gospel Reflection

This weekend, we hear Jesus teaching the disciples to love everyone, neighbor or enemy.  For the most part, I find this pretty simple and straightforward.  But I do struggle, not with loving everyone, but certainly with liking everyone.  What about you?  Did something else stand out to you in this Sunday's gospel?

  1. I agree, loving enemies is challenging, but liking them is almost impossible!

  2. In the Eastern Catholic Churches, today is the Sunday of the Last Judgment (also known as Meatfare Sunday, traditionally the last day for eating meat before Lent begins). Today's Gospel reading was Christ's parable of the Last Judgment (Matthew 25:31-46), which teaches that it is not enough to see Jesus, to see ourselves as we are, & to come home to God as his prodigal sons (last Sunday was the Sunday of the Prodigal Son). The Church teaches us that, in addition, one must also be God’s sons by following Christ, His only-begotten divine Son, & by seeing Christ in everyone, & by serving Christ through them. Truly a challenge for us all!

    1. Love this! I discussed with our Confirmation kids today how we are all called to be disciples and we do that by loving and serving God here on earth.
