For Better or For Worse

My husband has been laid off since last July.  For many reasons, it really stinks.  But most of all, it stinks because he sometimes feels useless and down on himself.  I've done my best to keep his spirits up and love him through it all.  But he is really getting discouraged.  This is the longest he's ever been laid off before and it's starting to wear on him.  How do you keep your hubby in good spirits?  What really makes his day?

  1. I'm sorry that you and your husband have been going through this all these months. He is really lucky to have your support. When my husband lost his job three years ago, I tried to be supportive, but at times it was hard because I myself was in a panic about it. When I am able to get past that and show compassion and encouragement to him, he brightens up instantly. I will continue to pray for you and your husband.

  2. This must be very hard, I am sorry. I will pray God be the source of your strength during this period of unemployment. Do not lose hope. God is with you & He cares deeply about your situation. Asking the intercession of St. Cajetan (patron of those experiencing unemployment) & St. Joseph the Worker for your husband. Perhaps reading over the Psalms together & reading Matthew 6:25-34 would help. Continue to express your appreciation of him being a good husband & father. It is hard for men, many who are tempted to find their worth in their jobs & in providing for their family. Material needs are important, even essential, but men provide more than that for their families by their loving & sacrificial example. God bless you all!

  3. Thank you for your prayers! He was called yesterday and asked to interview next Wednesday for a company he would really like to work for. Then he just texted me and got another phone call this morning from another company asking for an interview. So God is certainly working.
