Cleaning 101

I would love for our family to have a set schedule around the house when it comes to cleaning.  As it is, we wash clothes as the dirty basket fills up and vacuum when we notice the carpet needs it.  What do you do at your house?  Do you have a schedule or fly by the seat of your pants, like we do?  Any and all ideas are welcome!

  1. We wash the clothes when the carpet needs vacuuming, and we vacuum the carpet when the wash basket is full.

    God bless.

  2. I do 1-2 loads of laundry each day and change sheets once/week. I dust once/week and vacuum every two week (it could use it more often than that, but at least I don't have pets, which helps). Kitchen clean-up and dishes as needed. Bathrooms every two weeks with touch-ups in between as needed (again, they could use a more thorough cleaning more often than I do it). Then I have annual and bi-annual tasks that I keep a running list of on my calendar and do them when I can get to them. Clutter control is something I do throughout the day because I have a low tolerance for clutter.

  3. I average 2 loads of laundry every other day as the laundry baskets fill. Dusting...what's that...? ;) With a wood stove, we are in need of dusting quite often...certainly more so than I care to do. Vacuuming is a regular chore, as there are many children (ours & neighbor's) & 1 dog frequently going in & out of the house. The season of the Great Fast/Lent is a regular time for us to clean & de-clutter, some of which I began this week. I have a higher tolerance for dirt than I do for clutter. More often than not, we do a whirlwind cleaning before guests come over!
