Friday Fun Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hubby and I don't usually trade gifts, so we'll probably just spend some time together after the kids are in bed.  We do give the kids a little treat.  This year, our son is getting a heart box filled with beef jerky (his favorite).  And our daughter is obsessed with Duck Dynasty, so her chocolate-filled heart has Uncle Si on the front.  Of course, we will have brownies and/or cake for dessert.

What are your plans for tonight?  This weekend?

  1. My husband always gets me a rose and my two girls get a carnation corsage. I try to make a nice dinner and this time my daughter is making ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Nothing major. We have not gone out in eons (we have 7 kids ages 14 - 2) and just have never gotten a baby sitter. Our oldest can now watch the others but we still don't go out. My husband likes to come home and stay home. So an almost normal day with a few extra things.

  2. Same here! My hubby is still laid off, so no extra spending. We're out of school today, so our daughter and I made brownies and a cake this morning. Our son has belt testing tonight, so we'll probably treat them after with gift cards we received for Christmas. Just happy to be able to spend the day together.

  3. We just had a huge snowstorm. My son's school closed early yesterday and was closed today (on the heels of his February vacation!). Yesterday we baked and decorated a heart shaped cake and made a card for Daddy. Last weekend he and Dad went to our local nature preserve and made Valentine's cards for Grammie and me. We exchanged the cards when my husband got home from work, and I gave my son a small gift of playdoh which he loved. Then we made pizza and had a diningroom dinner with a fire in the fireplace, which is my son's favorite way to celebrate any occasion. My husband is putting him to bed right now, and then the two of us will have some quiet time. My husband will be working all weekend, but on Sunday my mother is going to watch my son so the two of us can go out for our Valentine's Day dinner. Then, the Monday after vacation, my son will have his classroom Valentine's Day party (which was supposed to be today), and my husband and I will be able to attend.
