Thursday Thoughts

Just some random thoughts...it makes my heart melt when I hear our kids talking "baby talk" to the new puppy.  My kitchen is a wreck and laundry is overflowing this week since we've had a busy couple weeks.  I'm hoping to talk my hubby into grilling fajitas this weekend.  I've had to turn off the news lately because it just depresses me.  And I desperately miss my grandparents!  My grandpa's last living sister died last week at 96 years old and it's had me thinking about them every second of the day.

What's going through your mind today?  Is it as random as my thoughts?

  1. My thoughts are mostly weather related -- we are getting a ton of rain today, and I need new rain shoes. And I hate driving in the rain and I wonder if this might possibly all be over by 3:30, when I have to leave work to pick up my girls. And neither of them have jackets or umbrellas, so there will be a mad dash to the car from the door of the school. And tomorrow is my daughter's big 8th grade field trip, and I really hope the rain has made it out to sea by then. If there is a contingency plan I haven't heard about it. And wow, sometimes rainy days just feel SO oppressive . . . I'd really rather be home watching my Downton Abbey dvds!!

  2. CatholicMomInOz: I am sorry about the loss of your grandfather's sister. At 96, I'd say you have some good genes in your family.

Anne in NC: Lots of rain here, too (& some hail yesterday...but also a double-rainbow!), which is hindering our sons' lawn mowing jobs. We are praying for good weather on Sunday when we'll be attending a graduation picnic for some children from our Catholic homeschool group who are graduating high school & college. What is your daughter's field trip?

I am praying for safe travels for my mom & aunt as they prepare to fly to Chicago for the funeral of my uncle...wondering how I'll squeeze in getting my mother-in-law up here for dinner, dropping our middle boys off to do some grocery shopping for a Scout camping trip, & picking up tickets for a steel pan fundraiser my & oldest daughter & I are attending tomorrow when all of these things are to happen at roughly the same time this evening...& not knowing when my husband will return tonight from working out in the field for 3 days...& hoping our 8-year old daughter is on the mend soon from some kind of stomach bug that hit her yesterday (she seems to be slowly perking up, thank the Lord).

  3. So glad it's not just me today. My mind is jumping from one thought to the next. We have 4 1/2 days of school left and you can tell. We're all trying to push to fit everything in before next week and it's making me crazy. LOL Anne, I hope the weather improves for you. It's finally beautiful here today. And Pilgrims9, I can so relate to the constant juggling. Kudos to you and other moms of multiple kids. I'm barely surviving with my two. I'm really looking forward to getting home this afternoon and spending a little quiet time with my hubby while our daughter is at dance and our son is working on homework. It's amazing how just 10 or 15 minutes of connection can get me through to the next day!
