Gettin' close!

It's the last week of school!  It's the last week of school!  Can you tell I'm a tad excited?  As a teacher, I'm so ready for a break from lesson planning and grading.  As a mom, I can't wait for no homework!  As a DRE, I'm thankful to have the summer to renew my spirit and have a chance to prayerfully plan for next year.

What do you do to celebrate the end of the school year?  Any special traditions?

  1. We have 5 more weeks to go, so I haven't made a whole lot of plans. There will be a kindergarten graduation ceremony for my son, and I assume we'll do some type of celebration that evening. I guess I need to start putting some thought into this...

  2. On the last day of school we have always gone directly to the mall for ice cream and a ride on the carousel. This year we will have to postpone that because the girls have school until noon, then we have to be back by 3:30 for graduation. Two weeks to go!

  3. We often go out for ice cream, as well...or to a local favorite eatery, Black Bear Burritos. One of our neighbors usually hosts a bring-your-own-topping ice cream sundae party for the local neighborhood children.

Anne: There was an old mall near us growing up that had one of those old-fashioned carousels where you'd reach out & grab a ring for a free ride...it was an amazingly decorated ride with pink horses, yellow elephants, blue tigers, etc. It was such a thrill to be able to ride it once in a blue moon!

    1. WOW. I have never seen a carousel that actually had rings you could grab! That must have been so cool!! The carousel at our mall is actually very nice, with fancy animals and a scary sea serpent. The reindeer is my favorite.

  4. Happy Monday, ladies! Finally got my grilled fajitas yesterday and they were delicious! We are done with school at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, so we'll probably get take-out for lunch. We like to get the kids a little treat to start the summer. One year, it was a slip-n-slide, another year it was a trip to the bookstore. Not sure what we'll do this year. Guess I need to think about it.
