Like weeds!

Our kids are growing like crazy.  We shopped for Easter outfits last week and I had to buy our son men's size 9 shoes.  What???  Needless to say, neither of them have many pieces of clothing from last summer that still fit, so we'll be shopping more in the near future.  Where do you find the best bargains for your kids' clothes?

  1. Hand-me-downs are my absolute favorite, although they aren't as easy to come by as they were when my son was an infant and toddler. I have gotten some things on Tredup.com and I shop at consignment sales occasionally. We are also blessed to get gifts of clothing on occasion from extended family (much better than being inundated with excessive gifts of toys in my small house!). If I were a better shopper, I know I could get great deals on new kids clothing, but I am not good at it and I don't enjoy it.

  2. Ugh, I hate shopping for clothes. My older daughter and I will have to do a lot of shopping in the coming months -- a graduation dress, summer shorts, and then a high school wardrobe! After being in Catholic school since preK she is looking forward to the non-uniform life of a public school. I am not!

We have been blessed over the years with a lot of hand-me-downs, and I am so grateful for that. Since we have two girls, our younger daughter has never had many clothes purchased just for her -- sometimes I feel bad about that. She and I both LOVE Hanna Andersson clothes, but they are expensive, so shopping there is a rare treat.

I really only buy them clothes when I have to. Then we usually are looking for something specific; we start at Target and go from there -- Sears, Penney's, Old Navy, and on up the food chain.

  3. We have also been the fortunate recipients of many hand-me-downs from friend's children over the years. It has saved us a fortune in clothes (& some shoes)! If we need something, I'll check Goodwill or one of the local consignment shops first, then try Gabriel Brothers.
