Hot or cold?

I noticed something funny yesterday.  When I was younger and we were first married, I was always cold and my husband was always hot.  It was a constant tug-of-war with the covers on the bed and a battle with the thermostat.  Well, yesterday I kicked the ceiling fan up a notch and my hubby complained because he was cold.  Haha!  These peri-menopausal hormones are kicking my butt!  Can anyone relate?

  1. Yes! I definitely relate. Sleeping with my husband is like going to bed with a radiator. I usually go to bed first and often I'm cold initially, but once he joins me it's all over! He often wants to snuggle, and I often can't because I get so hot! It was particularly bad this winter because it was so cold outside that our furnace was on constantly, and our upstairs ceilings are low, so our bedroom got really hot. I lost a lot of sleep this winter, alternating between kicking off the covers and then waking up cold and pulling them back on again. And now summer's coming! I actually have a pretty low tolerance for either temperature extreme, but my tolerance for the heat has definitely decreased with perimenopause.

  2. Yes, me too, although at least in my case hot flashes really are over in a flash. A few moments of INTENSE heat and then I'm back to normal. It's a weird experience.

  3. So glad I'm not alone! I take meds that cause me to flush, so between that and hot flashes, I'm a mess! My poor hubby! lol

  4. I am the opposite...I was always hot, especially during those many years of pregnancy & breastfeeding...I was a walking furnace. Now, I tend to get cold easily...which actually seems like a welcome change. Not hot flashes for me...yet...but I do have the heart palpitations & have heard it is the #1 complaint of women my age (mid-40s) to their doctors. Ahhh, the joys of womanhood! ;)
