Love Our Priests

We recently found out that our parish priest is leaving us at the end of May.  His health has been in decline for almost a year, so he's heading to the retreat center in Rochester, Minnesota so that he can be treated at the Mayo Clinic.  We are sad to lose him.  He is one of the most compassionate men I've ever met.  He will do anything he can to help someone.

What do you love about your priest?

  1. Our pastor has been with our parish for about 18 months. The best thing about him is that he is very faithful to the Church (and just this past month we have a new bishop who is also very faithful, so I'm hoping this will be very fruitful for our parish and our diocese).

  2. We just have the one priest, an Oblate of St. Francis deSales, in his early 60s. What really strikes me about him is that you can feel the joy he has in life -- something deeper than just being optimistic about things. And he has a nice singing voice, always a plus.

  3. It is always hard to lose a beloved priest. We sometimes laugh that our priest is like a forgetful Fr. Brown type (from G.K. Chesterton's Fr. Brown series)...but we love him! He is a true shepherd of souls. He also has a nice singing voice, which comes in handy as the Divine Liturgy is mostly sung. On Holy Saturday we received a phone call out of the blue from an old priest friend whom we've not seen in many years & hearing his lilting Irish brogue just made my day. Pray for our priests...theirs can be a very lonely & under-appreciated "job" at times.
