Aaaaaachoo!

Anyone suffering with allergies?  Things are slowly, but surely blooming around here and we're going through tissues like crazy.  I endured seven years of allergy shots and STILL have a runny nose.  It doesn't help that I'm allergic to most trees and grass.  Any helpful hints to keep the sniffles away?  I've read that a teaspoon of local honey every morning helps.  Please share your home remedies!

  1. Hoping you can find some relief! I can never resist opening up the windows to air out the house when warmer temperatures arrive...but we always pay for it the next day with allergy symptoms.

Taking honey daily is most beneficial when it is local, raw, unfiltered wildflower honey which maintains the natural enzymes present as well as small amounts of pollen, which could provide a small daily dose acting like an innoculent to reduce the severity of allergic responses.

Coconut oil has a special chemical composition which includes high levels of lauric acid. Lauric acid is hard to come by & is a critical component of lung surfactants & lung health.

Probiotics (best found in naturally fermented foods, homemade yogurt, kefir & kombucha...this last one I've not tried myself) have been shown to increase gut health & reduce the incidence of allergies.

Cod liver oil has been shown to reduce the frequency that children are treated for respiratory infections due to allergies or asthma.

Although I've not personally used these, I do know some people who swear by apple cider vinegar (reduced mucous production), nettle leaf (natural antihistamine), & Neti pots with a saline rinse. Dietary chages (GAPS Diet) is another big one.
