Friday Fun Day

Sorry I missed yesterday.  I was in bed sick for a couple days.  I have great news today.  My husband accepted a new job this morning!  Thank you for every prayer sent our way.  We would have never made it through the last eight months without your prayers and support.

So now on to the weekend...big plans?  I have the Rite of Election on Sunday afternoon with our RCIA group.  Other than that, we plan on celebrating our good news by just spending time together.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. This is AWESOME NEWS!!!!! I am so happy for you! I can't imagine having to endure 8 months job-hunting and the related stress, uncertainty, etc. I pray that this new job will be well worth the wait. (Sorry to hear that you have been sick.) My son has a birthday party tomorrow, and on Sunday we might go see the Lego movie.

  2. Oh, congratulations to you both! You have really been through a difficult stretch, and I hope now the road is smooth for a good long time. And I hope you are feeling better in every way!

Tomorrow afternoon my daughters and I will have a tea party to celebrate Hina Matsuri, the Japanese Girls' Day festival. It was actually last Monday but I couldn't deal with a tea party after work and school. We are not Japanese, but any holiday that celebrates girls sounds good to me! We've been celebrating this one for years -- we wear kimonos and listen to Japanese music, read stories and make some kind of Asian-inspired craft, and have tea and sweets. I'm now at a point of expecting the girls (especially my teenager) to say that they are too old for this, but so far, they still enjoy it.

FYI, there is a Japanese Boys' Day -- now more commonly called Children's Day -- on May 5. So if you don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo, maybe Boys' Day would work!

  3. CatholicMomInOz: Wonderful news about your husband's job, thanks be to God! Praying you are feeling better soon.

Anne in NC: That sounds like a neat celebration...my girls (8 & 16) have always enjoyed tea-time celebrations! I think if we celebrated the similar Boys' Day, there would be some fellows expecting sushi, which some of our boys really like. :)

We are grateful for the warmer temps & the sun that is shining today!
