Don't get me wrong. We have desperately needed rain, but it has been raining for four or five days straight. We canceled a trip to the pool on Friday and have basically been inside since then, except for Mass and a grocery store run. What do you do when you're rained in?
Summertime rain is great for going out in to splash & play & expect to come back soaked (& perhaps a bit muddy). :) This summer has been quite cool & wet thus far for us. Last year, it was so wet the tomatoes did not fare well. I wish we had an underground water tank to store all the excess water gathering in (& spilling out of) the rain barrel that we have no need of now, but that we'll surely wish we had later on. If we're not up for romping n the rain, we like to pass the time with board games, Legos, Playdough, baking, crafts, popcorn & a movie, etc.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a somewhat rainy week, too. The weekend was good, and yesterday we had a little reprieve from the rain, but other than that it is supposed to rain until next weekend. My son is still in school, so it's not that big a deal. I'm just so happy that it's not hot, that I'm trying not to complain about the rain. My son loves to splash in puddles on rainy days, but it won't be warm enough for that today. It's barely going to hit 70 degrees. Hopefully he'll have a chance before the end of the week. We have a front porch, so if it's not too windy we can play out there on rainy days. Otherwise, we stick with the same activities that got us through the winter.
ReplyDeleteSunny and hot and humid here, and has been for many days in a row. But we got our air conditioner fixed! And in the process they discovered that our hot water heater was basically being held together by rust and corrosion -- so that's being replaced today. And today I broke a tooth. I am down in the mouth!! :D
ReplyDeleteNone of this answers the rainy day question. Our girls enjoy playing in the rain for a while, but then mostly we just stay inside and grouse at each other. Sometimes we will use bad weather as an excuse to watch "Singing in the Rain" again, and I have been known to pull out our old wooden Noah's ark toy on really wet days!
I'm glad to hear that your AC got fixed, Anne! But sorry about the hot water heater and your tooth. It always seems like everything happens at once!
DeleteI've just reserved the "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" dvd from our library -- it seems to fit with our lives at the moment, with one problem leading to another to another to another, etc. And watching Cary Grant is always a treat!
