Our local board of parks & rec. is sponsoring movie night at the park down by the river, so we'll be popping some popcorn & going down to watch Frozen tonight. Tomorrow we will head up to Mount St. Macrina Monastery for Helping Hands Day to do some grounds maintenance for the Sisters in preparation for the 80th Annual Pilgrimage in Honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help over Labor Day weekend. After Sunday Pentecost Liturgy, our parish will have it's first summer picnic.
My husband is grilling chicken as we speak! Tomorrow while my husband's at work, I'm going to take my son to a Home Depot workshop to make a toy rider mower. Sunday is my mother's birthday, so she's going to come over for a barbecue.
Oh Anne, I'm so sorry to hear about your AC! It's going to be in the mid-80s this week here in upstate NY, so I can only imagine how hot it is down there in NC! But I agree, it's a blessing that it was still working when you had company. There's nothing worse than trying to entertain company when it's hot. The house we vacation at on Cape Cod has no AC at all (not even window units), and the great room gets sun on three sides all day long; no window treatments. The past two years when we've been there it's been in the 90s outside and incredibly humid, and a few times the inside thermostat got up to 87 degrees. I thought I would lose my mind. We had company and I was cooking, using the dishwasher, etc, which made it even worse. I told my husband and my son that if we end up having a heatwave again while we're there this summer, I am never going to go back. Anyway, I hope you'll be able to get your AC fixed soon!

ReplyDeleteNothing exciting here -- just trying to cope with a broken air conditioner!!! At least it waited until after our out-of-state guests left!
ReplyDeleteClaire, I think those Home Depot workshops are great!
Have fun everybody!
